The rose doesn’t steal the show and merely supports the realistic roasted coffee; which does most of the heavy lifting in it’s scent profile for the first 4-5 hours. Funnily enough, the only "coffee" fragrance I've ever actually detected coffee in has been Replica's Coffee Break and that one is notorious for being very light on the coffee and heavy on the milky lavender. I am definitely keeping this in my collection, as I've always wanted at least one Montale fragrance.

Boozy and intense but not extremely pleasant to start with - that boozyness is a tad too much initially, though it subsides one hour into wearing.

On clothes this lasts better than on skin but on me this number got overly sweet, and the sugary-boozy-coffee note was not enjoyable as I thought it could be. I do like this very much because it's hard to find a fragrance that uses espresso or dark coffee bean notes and not drown it with vanilla. I couldn't imagine wearing this in the peak of summer 😂 but I'm glad I got to try it and see what it's all about. Scent-Initial: 9/10 Unlike the Intense Café, this keeps the impression I made through out the scent lifespan.

What you think of when it comes to this Montale perfume will depend on individual associations and the moment.

Whoever loves coffee, especially the italian type, knows, that the ristretto is a very short, strong one, one gulp, no more. After the first caramel blast it turns quite harsh on my skin, as if black coffee beans bury the sweeter notes. I get tons of coffee and zero rose, while with Intense Cafe I get zero coffee and all (somewhat synthetic) rose. After a few hours I can’t tell if I sprayed Ristretto or Instant Crush, the dry downs are very similar. This one's fragrance won't be for everyone because it's a strong perfume with a really intense coffee scent.

Before using a Montale product, please read the list of ingredients on its packaging to ensure that the ingredients are suitable for your personal use.

This absolutely has pink pepper that is not listed because I am sensitive to it, and it's the most prominent note I can pick up. I know for myself when making espresso coffee at home, I’ve always had the very best results by mixing a rich chocolatey dark roast bean with an opulent full flavoured lighter roast bean. Small Aromas is in no way affiliated with, or working in any form of partnership with the brand owner, Montale. RIC was so synthetic smelling that it took over 7 days after spraying on an envelope for the fragrance to settle down into something I could appreciate.

Once Montale Ristretto Intense Cafe EDP has reached its full dry down, it can be summarized as a strong projection, very sweet, coffee, vanilla, caramel, roses, and woody fragrance with ambery and white must accords.Personally I much prefer this fragrance to Intense Cafe - which in my opinion, is overrated and fades to a weak, rose musk in the matter of minutes. I do not get any of the specific notes aside from coffee the rest is just a well-blended deliciousness that I crave to sniff every day now.
