The Jealousy Man is divided into two sections—entitled “Jealousy” and “Power”—each of which contains several stories of varying, abbreviated lengths. Una vez más voy a diferir de las corriente generalizada de opiniones sobre este libro: a mi me ha parecido una puñetera maravilla. The book opens up with London, and it's definitely a story that leaves you satisfied, yet wanting more(in a good way).

I must ask you to keep an open mind and forget about Nesbø’s previous works before getting into this.A pause after the end of each was necessary to fully absorb what the author have revealed in the story, and I even broke off halfway through and read something a little lighter to break up the experience because of the effect the book was having on me. From the expression on your face I gathered that you were mildly surprised at my having broken the first rule of travelling business class.

With Nesbø’s characteristic gift for outstanding atmosphere and gut-wrenching revelations, The Jealousy Man confirms that he is at the peak of his abilities. Simon Vance (one of my all-time favorite narrators) read London, the opening tale that was truly captivating and held my attention, and Odd. Nicholas Guy Smith read The Jealousy Man, and Black Knight, which kept me enthralled to the final minute. No u svima sam njima pronašla ono što i inače tražim u kratkim pričama: jezgrovitost, efektnost i snagu emocija koje su u njima prikazane. I have learned to truly appreciate the enormity of the task of translating the subtle nuances of meaning from one language to another.

Normally I race through a book of short stories quite quickly, because they are consumed in easily digestible chunks – like grazing on snacks rather than consuming a three course meal. In Jealousy, a man is always driven to do something Very Bad by an overabundance of jealousy, warranted or not, and the stories under Power involve some pretty twisted power games and several are dystopic or have a sci-fi element. I gave this book 2 stars because although I found the first story very good, I wasn't too keen on many others. The professional hit man who did the shooting, a Croat known as “The Little Redeemer,” is appalled to discover he hit the wrong man.
